Truth or Dare Questions for Couples: From Sweet to Spicy

Truth or Dare is the most famous couples game for a reason. It's zero setup, infinitely replayable, and by question four you usually learn something you didn't know. The hardest part is coming up with questions, which is why everyone defaults to the same six they remember from middle school.

How to actually play as a couple

Two-player Truth or Dare works differently than group Truth or Dare. Some adjustments that help:

• Alternate strictly. Whoever asked picks next. No skipping your turn.
• Pass limit: two. You can refuse a question or dare, but only twice per round. This keeps both people honest.
• Dares have to be doable. No "run outside naked." If you can't do the dare right now, it doesn't count.
• One escalation per round. Start at Level 1 questions. Move up only when you both want to.
• Stop when it stops being fun. "Fun" includes the good kind of nervous. It doesn't include dread.

Level 1: warm-up

Sweet, curiosity-driven, nothing anyone would blush about in public.

Truths:

• What's one thing you noticed about me the first time we met?
• What's the most romantic movie moment you secretly want to recreate?
• What's a pet name you'd secretly love me to use for you?
• What song reminds you of me?
• What's one thing I do that you think is adorable?
• If we swapped lives for a day, what's the first thing you'd do?
• What's a small thing I could do more often that would make you happy?
• What's your favorite memory of us from the last year?
• What do you wish you'd asked me when we first started dating?
• What would you name our imaginary next pet?

Dares:

• Slow dance with me in the kitchen for one song.
• Kiss me for thirty seconds without using your hands.
• Give me a compliment I've never heard you say.
• Read me your favorite text I've ever sent you.
• Do your best impression of me arguing about something small.
• Let me pick your outfit tomorrow.
• Write me a two-line poem and read it out loud.
• Massage my shoulders until I tell you to stop.
• Trade phones with me for the next five minutes. No snooping.
• Tell me one memory of us that still makes you smile.

Level 2: flirty

Where eye contact starts to matter. Still clothed. Slightly braver.

Truths:

• What's the most attractive outfit you've seen me in?
• When was the last time you thought about me at an inappropriate moment?
• What's a small thing I do that genuinely turns you on?
• What part of my body do you think about most?
• What's the closest we've come to getting caught somewhere we shouldn't have been?
• If you could only touch me in one place for the rest of your life, where?
• What was the first thing you fantasized about with me?
• What's a compliment I've given you that you still think about?
• What's something innocent of mine that secretly turns you on?
• Tell me one thing you've imagined us doing but haven't suggested.

Dares:

• Undress me one piece at a time, slowly.
• Kiss me somewhere other than my mouth for two full minutes.
• Whisper what you'd like to do to me later, in detail.
• Trace a letter on my skin. I have to guess it with my eyes closed.
• Pick a spot on my body and kiss it until I ask you to stop.
• Take a photo of me right now. You can keep it.
• Recreate the first time we kissed.
• Describe out loud what you want me to do next.
• Sit on my lap for the rest of this round.
• Swap one piece of clothing with me. Wear it for the rest of the game.

Level 3: spicy

For when you've both had a drink, the door is locked, and nobody is driving home after.

Truths:

• What's the dirtiest thing you've thought about me this week?
• Who's the most surprising person you've ever been attracted to?
• What's a fantasy you've had that you haven't told me about?
• Have you ever been turned on at a totally inappropriate moment with me nearby?
• What's something you want me to do to you that I've never done?
• What's the hottest dream you've ever had about me?
• Describe the last time you touched yourself thinking about me.
• Is there a kink you've been curious about but never said out loud? Say it now.
• If you could watch me do one thing alone, what would it be?
• What's a place you'd love to have sex that you haven't told me about?

Dares:

• Show me where you'd like to be touched using only your hands on yourself.
• Take off one piece of clothing of your choice.
• Kiss me for two full minutes with no other touching.
• Let me blindfold you for the next five minutes. I'll decide what happens.
• Describe, step by step, exactly what you'd like to happen next. Don't leave anything out.
• Let me set a thirty-second rule. Whatever I ask for in the next 30 seconds, you do.
• Put your hand where you'd like mine to be.
• Give me a lap dance. Your music choice.
• Strip down to whatever feels brave. I'll match you.
• Let me tease you for exactly three minutes without touching where you want.

Level 4: no takebacks

The deep end. Save these for nights you both want to remember.

Truths:

• What's the most intense fantasy you've ever had involving me?
• Describe your favorite time we've ever had sex, in detail.
• What would you want us to try that you've been nervous to bring up?
• If I gave you a full yes right now to anything, what would you ask for?
• What's something you want me to say to you during sex that I've never said?
• Have you ever recorded a thought or voice memo about me you haven't sent?
• What's the one thing about my body you find most overwhelming?
• Describe exactly how you want to be kissed right now.
• If we had two hours and no obligations, spell out what you'd want to happen.
• What's a boundary you used to have that you've moved since we've been together?

Dares:

• Take everything off. I'll do the same.
• Tell me what to do next. I do whatever you say for three minutes.
• Let me do anything I want for the next three minutes. Safe word still applies.
• Recreate the hottest thing we've ever done. Don't narrate. Just start.
• Try something you've been curious about. I'm in.
• Pull a card from the BDSM section and do the prompt, as is.
• Pull a card from the roleplay section and improvise for five minutes.
• Spin the Wheel of Kinks and commit to whatever it lands on.
• Pick any kink category and draw a random prompt. We do it.
• Describe your wildest fantasy while I listen and do nothing else.

The one rule worth repeating

Dares that cross a real line don't become okay because they were a dare. If either of you invokes a no, that ends the dare and you pick a new one. No argument, no cajoling, no "come on, it's just a game." That's what keeps the game fun, and what makes people willing to play it again next week.
